Many players work on their movement and footwork skills, but to have the best results they should emulate the particular movements that they will be performing during a match.

Tennis is as much about speed and agility as it is about power of the swing.  The tennis player needs to respond to different signals, move quickly while constantly changing directions.


These drill will help improve your speed, or the ability to complete a movement within short period of time. Within tennis, players need to have the ability to react quickly as well as make explosive movements and correctly execute body movements at different speeds.  Players must be able to accelerate and slow down to full develop their speed.


Some times within tennis, agility is something you are either born with or is acquired by very experience players.  However, by the ability to explosively start, decelerate, change direction, and accelerate again quickly while maintaining body control and minimizing a reduction in speed can be worked on through the following drills.
